The author of this week’s mixtape could not have chosen a better title: Yo Soy Así (This is the way I am). If there is anything that defines Fran Di Gianni from the rest, its his tendency to do his own thing, to escape from the collective trend.
The mixtape “Yo Soy Así” is one of the two mixes that Francisco made this year for promotional purposes. He says this mix represents him as “an Argentine DJ who loves disco and modern music” and says that every chosen track is part of a story that he tries to tell us trough his mix.
The reason for so many Latin artists in the mixtape has to do with Francisco’s recent work: he has been programming an internet radio for a New York website and on the way he rediscovered a lot of Latin artists like Los Amigos Invisibles, a band from Venezuela that plays funk and rap and worked with Dimitri from Paris on their last album. Other Latin artists were the Colombians Sidestepper and Bitman & Roban from Chile. The mixtape has funk and disco flavor and it gets very jazzy fresh too, all genres very well known and played out often by Fran.
Currently Fran is busy making new amazing beats, rehearsing with his band/project Los No Invitados and raising his beautiful new baby girl, Amapola.
