Last weekend the sixth edition of the BAFIM (Buenos Aires International Music Fair) took place in stages all across the city. Three non-stop days of lectures, meetings and live shows attracted music industry people from around the world to check out what was freshly brewing in the Buenos Aires music scene. As is customary of the fair, inscription to the conference was totally open – both to the delegates in attendance and the bands that are showcased. Open invite to share our favorite acts and dance like animals? We’re there.
So last Friday under the theme “Ladies of New Folklore” we brought together Sofía Viola, Fémina, Paloma del Cerro and La Yegros and dj Chancha Via Circuito to a sold-out crowd at Palermo’s La Oreja Negra. The night was filled with a perfect recipe of face paint, laser shows and a crowd that rose to their feet during Paloma del Cerro and didn’t stop dancing until after La Yegros lowered the stage.
We want to send a big shout out to everyone who made this show possible, the lovely ladies that have made their mark on the local folklore scene and proved it to any that might doubt it on Friday, to the BAFIM for putting together such a great conference, the delegates that came out in full force, and all the other savage dance machines that shook the floor with us.
If you couldn’t come, you missed it! But below some photos taken by the wonderful Paula Slatapolsky.
