Every once and a while a place comes along that seems to get it. Combining all the essential elements that make up a great restaurant & bar, Le Bar is one of those places. Le Bar didn’t merely get it, they hit the bullseye. Le Bar is the newest hottest spot in town. And rightly so. The formula is simple: the combination of a great space, great food-drink-service and those extra touches like DJs spinning tunes, a terrace to die for and design concepts that are completely fresh and new. Lets take a deeper look. The first thing that stands out at Le Bar is its design. Sleek curves, classic prints, futuristic seating arrangements, teardrop lamps, every detail is accentuated by the concept of originality and modernity. The antique building dating from the golden years of downtown BA is 4 floors high and each floor is its own world. The ground floor is elegant and sleek, with a great bar that greets you when you enter. To the right is the dining area with lush couches and comfortable tables highlighted by a prism like wall that illuminates with a rainbow display of colors. The second floor modern and fresh, the seating is perfect for lounging about with friends. The terrace an escape into the cool Porteño night, simple and clean with illustrations on the wall by one of BA´s hottest artists, Pum Pum. Next the food and drinks, both outstanding. The kitchen is original, fresh and delicious. It’s tapa based, choose from lamb cous-cous, avocado salad, Morroccan spiced sweat breads (mollejas) mollejas marinadas con especias marroquies) and much more. Save room for dessert, the sweets selection includes angel and ginger cake, (Huevos a la nieve y cake jengibre) white chocolate cream with pastis and fresh fruit, (Crema de chocolate blanco y pastis con ensalada de frutillas frescas y naranja) apple tart with vanilla ice cream (Tarta tatin de manzanas y helado de vainilla) and more. The drinks are also fantastic, try the "Passionaria" which combines maracuja (passion fruit) with cachaça (Brazilian sugar cane moonshine). Escape the hustle and bustle of mid-day downtown and grab lunch, a post-work evening drink, come for a 4 course dinner or pop in for a late night snack and cocktail. Finally the musical accompaniment to the whole experience. Le Bar has paid attention to the fact that a great bar has great music. Catch an eclectic mix of tunes on Tuesdays, record labels going electronic on Wedensday nights, journalists and industry peeps spinning funk, jazz and soul on Thursdays and the most bastard of all BA hip hop DJs Villa Diamante (+ friends) on Fridays. The owners, 3 French and one Argentine, organized an all-star cast of people to help them turn Le Bar into the experience it is. This cast includes: Kitchen: Fernando Mayoral (Thymus) Bar: Leo Speroni (Christophe, Cosmopolitan, Gran Bar Danzon, Bar Uriarte) Design: Diego Grinbaum aka El Mono (Olsen, La Providencia) & Alejandro Taliano Music: Leandro Frias For more about Le Bar check out this great video (in Spanish)
